A price you can check before you give us your afternoon.

01

You can compare us without an appointment

Read the figure, compare it with anyone else you are talking to, and only book a survey if it stands up.

Starting price, 4kW solar

£5,300

Standard pitched roof, straightforward scaffold access.

02

The survey moves the price for reasons we can name

A published price is a starting price. It moves if your roof needs work first, if the scaffold is awkward, or if your consumer unit needs upgrading. Those are the exclusions listed further down this page, and your surveyor writes down which of them apply.

What each one costs and what is in the box.

Starting prices for a standard pitched roof with straightforward access, with 0% VAT applied. Every one includes design, installation, commissioning and the paperwork.

4kW solar

About 10 panels, no battery. A sound buy if you use most of your power during the day.

  • Around 10 panels with roof-integrated or on-roof mounting
  • Hybrid inverter, so a battery can be added later without replacing it
  • Generation metering and an app to see what the roof is doing
  • Scaffold, bird protection and full clean-up
  • DNO notification and your handover pack
  • Help registering for export payments

  • Battery isolation and protection to current wiring regulations
  • Charge schedule set up for your tariff on handover day

  • 13.5kWh battery with backup capability
  • Backup board wiring for the circuits you choose at survey
  • Time-of-use charging configured for your night tariff

Prices are indicative starting prices with 0% VAT applied and assume a standard pitched roof needing no repair before installation. We do not publish an energy saving figure or a payback period here, because it depends on your roof, your usage and your tariff. Your surveyor produces one calculated to the MCS method with the assumptions written down, so you can check it.

What is not included.

A price is only useful if the exclusions are named. These are the five things that most often add cost, and each one is confirmed at survey with a figure attached before you agree to anything.

  • Roof repairs found at survey Slipped or cracked tiles, tired felt, rotten battens. Panels last decades, so it makes no sense to fit them over a roof that will need opening up in three years. We tell you what we find and price the repair separately.
  • Non-standard scaffold Standard access is included. Bridging a conservatory, a road licence, restricted rear access or a three storey lift is not, and the extra is priced at survey.
  • Consumer unit upgrades If your board cannot safely take the new circuits, it has to be replaced or a sub-board added. Common in houses that have not had electrical work done for a while.
  • Tree work Shading kills output. If a neighbouring tree or one of yours needs reducing, that is an arborist's job, and if it is protected it needs council consent first.
  • Structural work Rare, but some roofs need strengthening before they carry an array, and some batteries need a proper base or a wall that will take the weight. Where a structural engineer is needed, we say so.

None of these are discovered on the day of installation and sprung on you. They are found at survey, before you commit, and priced in writing.

How the number stops moving.

01

The survey, about an hour

A surveyor measures the roof, checks the loft, the consumer unit and the scaffold access, and works out what will actually fit. Nothing is sold at this visit. If one of the exclusions above applies, it is written down with a price next to it.

02

A fixed price, in writing

You get a quotation with the equipment listed, the price fixed, and the assumptions behind any performance figures set out so you can check them. It does not change afterwards unless you change the specification.

03

14 days to change your mind

Because we sell in your home, you have a statutory 14 day cancellation right that starts when the contract is agreed. If you cancel within it you get your money back. If you want us to start inside those 14 days, you have to ask us in writing, and we will explain what that means before you do.

After the survey

Fixed

Your price in writing, with 14 days to change your mind.

Finance is available, and you see the terms first.

You can pay outright or spread the cost. We do not print monthly figures on this website, because a monthly figure without the full credit terms next to it tells you almost nothing.

After your survey, when we know the real price of your installation, you get the full terms in writing. The interest rate, the length of the agreement, the deposit, the total amount payable and the total cost of the credit. Nothing is agreed until you have read them.

Credit is subject to status and affordability checks. Full pre-contract credit information and the representative example are provided before any agreement is signed.

Every price on this page has 0% VAT applied.

The zero rate on qualifying domestic solar and battery installations runs to 31 March 2027. After that the rate returns to 5%, not 20%. On our most popular build at £9,300 that adds about £465.
